| Katherine
Kunakovitch, Marianne Delamonde, and Carmen DeVeux were best friends
throughout their college years. Following their graduation in
1977, they
each
embarked upon their careers and went their own ways. Life goes
rather as expected until the dawn of the new decade, at which point
certain decisions take on potentially deadly consequences. |

| The Collapse of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge | First
we explore the worst day of Marianne's young life, one that could have
abruptly ended her existence as a disco - hopping socialite of Tampa,
Florida. |

| The Wedding of Jean Claude Duvalier to Michele Bennett in Haiti | Next, a
brief glimpse into
the decadence of Haiti during the reign of
the dictatorial Duvaliers. Carmen DeVeux, one of 'The Trio'
(Katherine, Marianne, & Carmen), is related to
the dictator and thus gets invitations for Katherine and Marianne to
what was the most excessive wedding of 1980. Jean Claude Duvalier
and Michele Bennett spent an
estimated seven million dollars on the wedding, an event that was
spread over several days and charged to the impoverished island nation. |

| Katherine Touches Death | Finally, we explore the
day
upon which our main character, Katherine
Kunakovitch
Sherrington, is on her way to escape her stressful life as the charming
wife of a State politician in Virginia. Katherine is flying on
Air
Florida Flight 90 to Tampa from what was at that time called National
Airport in Washington, D.C. It is a frigid morning in January of 1982, and a blizzard that the newscasters have nicknamed 'The Siberian Express' is blasting through the Northeast with terrible power. As the morning unfolds, Katherine has a very personal encounter with her own humanity and the fragile existence that comprises everyday life, and sometimes, everyday death. ©Link Furrow 2002 - 2008 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED |
